Drew Shanefield received his B.M. from New York University, M.S. Ed. from Queens College, M.M. from West Chester University and Ed.D. from Widener University. Major teachers include William Vacchiano, Chris Gekker, Kenneth Laudermilch and Ronald Anderson. In addition to directing Swarthmore's Jazz Ensemble, Drew Shanefield is also an instrumental music specialist for the School District of Haverford Township.
Drew maintains a busy schedule as a composer and arranger for ensembles across the United States, Europe and Japan. He is a frequent guest conductor and presenter of sessions at conferences throughout the country. Additionally, Drew is a trumpet performing artist and clinician for Yamaha instruments and is an adjudicator and clinician for Bands of America/Music for All. He is in his third year as staff composer/arranger for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps of Rosemont, IL.
