Family Research at Friends Historical Library
Friends Historical Library is a depository for the records of Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, and other smaller Yearly Meetings and holds either in manuscript or microfilm the largest collection of Quaker records in the world. It is not a genealogical library, but does hold resources which are of interest to genealogists who are descended from Quakers.
Friends Historical Library encourages family history researchers to visit and use the collection themselves. However, if this is impossible, a genealogical research service is available. Requests for copies of a particular record (when it has been microfilmed) must be referenced to the meeting and exact date, otherwise it will be treated as a genealogical search and will be billed as such.
Friends Historical Library does not collect genealogical information on persons who were not Quakers. However, we do have a number of local/county histories and basic genealogical reference books for use by researchers in-house.
