Dr. Jennifer
Dougherty joins the Peace and Conflict Studies Program at SwarthmoreWe are pleased to announce that Dr. Jennifer Dougherty who joined us this fall will teach new two courses in Spring 2008: PEAC 020. Conflict Resolution, and PEAC 030. Comparative Peace Processes. Dr. Dougherty comes from the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University. She also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland. During the fall semester, Professor Dougherty is teaching Introduction to Peace and Conflict Studies.
George Lakey at the Lang Center in 2007-2008During the 2006-2007 academic year, George Lakey, author, activist, and, founder of Training for Change joined the Peace and Conflict Studies program at Swarthmore and taught three courses. For 2007-08, he has returned to Swarthmore with an office in the Lang Center for Civic and Social Responsibility and will offer workshops for the college community. |

Katie
Camillus '08 will
initiate a micro-finance program in UgandaHaving interned last summer at Kiva.org and working with microfinance organizations, Camillus is using her Lang Opportunity Scholarship at Swarthmore to initiate and study a social justice project in Uganda in cooperation with Project Have Hope . You can follow her work this summer via her blog . Starting in fall 2007, Jared will attend the JFK School of Government at Harvard on a Reynolds Foundation Fellowship in Social Entrepreneurship . |
