| Job Description | We are looking for a Pre-K 3/4 (mixed class of 3 and 4 year olds) Assistant Teacher for 2008-09. This position might be a fit for a broader number of candidates because it could be for a full school year or it could be just for the fall or the spring semester. The reason that we have this flexibility is because the current assistant will be doing her student teaching and has the option to do it either in the fall or spring. If possible she would like to continue to work at Oak Lane next year. However, I would like to fill the position with the best candidate, so if that means hiring for the full school year then that is what I will do.
This is a part-time salaried position (.75 time) and the hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. daily. We run an extended day program and there would be the opportunity to pick up additional work between 3 and 6 each day if that was desired. This position comes with health benefits.

| Job Description | I am the Director of Development for a private college scholarship fund for
caddies and others in service to golf. Our awards range from $1,000 to
$8,000 per year per student, and are intended to augment the financial aid
provided by colleges or universities. We receive about one hundred
applications a year from member golf clubs, and award scholarships to all
qualified applicants who meet the financial need criteria (approximately
70%). We use an outside consultant to evaluate the applications and
determine the level of financial need. After working with us for fifteen
years, our consultant just informed us that for personal reasons he will be
unable to assist us going forward. As a result, we need a thorough,
detail-oriented consultant to:
---Work with the students beginning in March to make sure their scholarship
applications are complete for the April 15th submission deadline.
--- Once an application is complete, determine the level of financial need.
--- Present findings to the Board of Directors for evaluation in early June.
--- Meet with the Board of Directors and candidates selected for awards in
late June.
We are located in Westchester County, NY. The consultant does not need to
be local, but needs to be in regular phone and e-mail contact with the
applicants, communicate with us on a regular basis, and attend the June
meetings. The consultant also must have a solid admissions or financial aid
background, preferably as a former director or assistant director, and
knowledge of the financial aid practices at four year and community
colleges. While the consultant does not solicit applications, s/he should
expect to spend a significant amount of time calling and e-mailing to ensure
that submitted applications are complete.

A private, college-preparatory K-8 school in Maryland is seeking an elementary teacher to commence work in September 2007.
The teaching duties are for mathematics in grades 1-4. The teacher will have his/her own classroom, but not their own homeroom.
The school offers a rigorous, academic curriculum for students of average to gifted abilities. Teachers have high expectations, but they also provide the support and encouragement that enable students to succeed. Emphasis is placed on mastering fundamental skills that will allow students to be successful after they graduate. Small class sizes (generally 12 per class in math and English and 18 in other disciplines) allow teachers to give individual attention to each of their students.
Faculty provide written comments and hold conferences periodically, so that parents are thoroughly informed about their children's strengths, weaknesses, and progress. Students test well above grade level in annual standardized tests, and by eighth grade the median student is testing at a post-high school level.

| Job Description | Assistant Director
The Ideal Applicant:
College Visions (CV) seeks an energetic, motivated individual with a
commitment to making higher education accessible to underrepresented groups,
an interest in organizational leadership, and experience working with
teenage youth.
Organization:
CV is a highly effective non-profit that provides individualized college
admissions coaching to low-income and first-generation college-bound
students in Providence. The program maximizes students‚ potential as
applicants and empowers them to make informed college choices. Founded in
2004 and housed at AS220, CV employs an innovative structural model, in
which it functions as a shared resource among progressive youth development
organizations that have identified college advising as a critical need.
CV occupies a unique niche in the educational landscape of Providence. One
graduate, who was the first in her family to attend a four-year college,
writes: „I was kept on task with what had to be done. I was on time with
everything: starting my essay, FAFSA, and applying to school. I feel that if
I wasn‚t a part of CV, I would have been completely lost like some of my
friends and wouldn‚t have applied to as many schools. I‚ve noticed that
there was truly no other place or person I could have turned to in order to
get help.‰
Despite facing a variety of risk factors associated with low-levels of
educational attainment, CV participants are highly successful in the college
admissions process.
? Ninety-four percent of participants have enrolled in higher
education.
? Almost eighty-five percent enroll in four-year institutions.
? Over forty percent attend college outside Rhode Island.
? Every CV graduate who has entered college is still enrolled.
? Over half of CV students enter higher education through campus-based
retention programs designed to ensure their success in college.
Why College Visions?
College Visions is rapidly expanding and the Assistant Director will play a
central role in facilitating healthy, sustainable progress. The position
entails a diverse range of responsibilities. You will work directly with
youth as a one-on-one college advisor and group workshop facilitator.
Additionally, you will have a central role in organizational leadership,
including involvement with program design and evaluation, planning
organizational growth, formulating development strategies, and building
relationships with teen-serving non-profits and institutions of higher
education. If you are energetic, creative, flexible, hard-working, and
highly organized and if you want to grow alongside the organization, this is
a great opportunity. Although the position is demanding, the supportive,
close-knit environment of CV and the impressive outcomes you will help
produce make it highly rewarding.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director will be responsible for:
? Serving as the primary college advisor for 35 high school seniors.
? Building relationships with colleges and advocating for advisees
during the admissions process.
? Evaluating and expanding programming.
? Developing curriculum.
? Cultivating new organizational partnerships.
? Grant writing.
? Planning and implementing fundraising strategies.
? Supervising the planning of events including financial aid nights
for families and CV‚s annual graduation ceremony.

College Visions (CV) is a highly effective non-profit that provides

youth development organizations that have identified college advising as a
critical need.
CV occupies a unique niche in the educational landscape of Providence. One

writes, "I was kept on task with what had to be done. I was on time with
everything: starting my essay, FAFSA, and applying to school. I feel that if
I wasn't a part of CV, I would have been completely lost like some of my
friends and wouldn't have applied to as many schools. I've noticed that
there was truly no other place or person I could have turned to in order to
get help."
Despite facing a variety of risk factors associated with low-levels of
educational attainment, CV participants are highly successful in the college

programs that help to ensure their success in college.

creativity? Hope to be involved in organizational decision-making? If so,
this might be the perfect position. CV is a three-year-old organization with

provide amazing opportunities to be creative, have a role in program growth,
and learn about organizational development.

. Planning and implementing a system to involve volunteers in editing
students' college essays and resumes.
. Developing a CV alumni network.

annual graduation ceremony.

| Job Description | Employment Opportunities at Miquon for the 2007- 2008 Academic Year
We are currently seeking applicants for a 1 year sabbatical replacement for a Specialist teacher in ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION/SCIENCE and a group teacher position teaching 5th/6th grade. Group teacher applicants should have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience. Specialist teachers need a minimum of 1 year of teaching experience. Please see the descriptions below for brief explanations of the responsibilities and expectations for those jobs.
Specialist teachers work with all of the students in the school. Younger children go to each of the specialists once a week and older students twice, usually in half-groups (9 - 12 students) but sometimes as a whole class. Flexibility in scheduling is one of the strengths of our program. Our specialist programs are: science, music and dance, library, art, and physical education. Specialists often work with classroom teachers to coordinate projects and complement each other's instructional goals.
Group teachers are responsible for the educational and social growth of their students. Group teachers oversee the work of and guide the professional development of the classroom assistant teacher. They develop and implement curriculum in mathematics, social studies, language arts, social skills, and any additional areas through which the teachers choose to enrich their program. They assess and report on students' progress to parents in twice-yearly conferences, in written narrative reports at the end of the year, and informally on an as-needed basis throughout the year.
Founded by parents in 1932, we are an independent elementary school for children in nursery through sixth grade. We are located in the Philadelphia suburbs. The Miquon School treasures and celebrates childhood. We give our students time to play and grow. Our program and our environment encourage wonder, inquiry, independence, and discovery. We seek to create confident, life-long learners who will move out into the wider world with strong academic and social skills, intense personal interests, a love for the arts, and a commitment to building inclusive and peaceful communities. We are dedicated to learning together in the rich tradition of Progressive education that is our founders‚ legacy.

| Job Description | Camp Jabberwocky is an overnight camp on Martha’s Vineyard, an island off the coast of Massachusetts. The camp is run for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities and runs for about eight weeks, from the end of June to the end of August. Jabberwocky serves about 30 campers each week, with a staff of about 25 volunteers who receive no formal pay but who do receive free room and board while living at camp. (Travel expenses to Martha’s Vineyard are also covered by the camp.) Jabberwocky is divided into two sessions, each about four weeks in duration. The first session is held primarily for adult campers whereas the second enrolls a greater number of younger campers. We are looking for counselors who can devote time during either session to work with an amazing group of campers and counselors. While we prefer counselors to come for the entirety of one of the sessions, counselors can come for one, two, three or four weeks. Counselors are responsible for the care of their camper, running activities, and general service to the camp as a whole. A daily schedule includes but is not limited to: breakfast, music class, activities (including pottery, jewelry making, basketball, yoga, painting, baseball, etc.), lunch, the beach, dinner and an evening activity (e.g. going to concerts, drumming cookouts on the beach, dances…). Days are full, but filled with great joy and an inordinate amount of laughter. Working at camp is a truly unique experience.
Experience working with special needs children and adults is not necessary; orientation will be held prior to the start of each session, and most people have no experience before coming to camp. Please contact Rachel Winter at campjabberwocky@gmail.com if you have any questions or are interested in working at Jabberwocky.
