January-April 2003

Student-teach full-time in a fourth grade classroom. Responsible for all facets of the school day, including lesson planning, assessment and classroom management. Responsible for all aspects of the curriculum, including language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.

June-August 2002

Taught a daily, six-week math course to two classes of six 11- to 13-year-olds in a tuition-free academic summer program for urban middle-school students. Developed curriculum and assessment for course, emphasizing problem solving, analytical thinking, and math in “the real world.” Served as a liaison between faculty and administration as a member of the Administrative Committee.

Team-taught a six-week, daily math class to twelve 12- to 14-year-olds graders in a tuition-free academic summer program for urban students. Developed curriculum emphasizing analytical skills and real-world mathematical applications. Taught a daily studio art elective to six students.
