Student Work: Homage to a Polygon

This is a reproduction of an actual painting by Josef Albers, "Homage to a Square." It is similar to those that students would have seen in the Internet links on which they based their own "Homage to a Polygon."

This is an example by CR. She has neatly cut out her various octagons and has stuck to a simple color palette.

HD is not as careful about cutting out the pentagons he uses in the piece below. He had prided himself in finishing the work quickly, and was one of the few students that completed all 4 activities in the short block of time I gave students to work. One the other hand, he has definitely deliberately chosen the location of his pentagons, rotating each successive pentagon 1/5 of a circle.

RC has chosen a much wider variation of colors. She has also attempted to make her own similar hexagon, as the largest one was not supplied as a stencil.
