BLOOM’S TAXONOMY
1. Knowledge (e.g. identify, define)- remembering previously learned material
2. Comprehension (e.g. explain)-grasp meaning of material.
3. Application (e.g. apply)-use learned material in new ways.
4. Analysis (e.g. break it down!)-break down material into component parts.
5. Synthesis (e.g. make something new)-put parts together to form a new whole.
6. Evaluation (e.g. determine)-judge the value of material.

SAMPLE QUESTIONS USING BLOOM’S TAXONOMY: An Economics Lesson on the Law of Demand
1. Knowledge
What is the definition of demand?
What are the four determinants of demand?
What is a demand schedule? What is a demand curve?

2. Comprehension
When does demand increase? When does demand decrease?
How is the price related to the number demanded?

3. Application
Given a demand schedule, how would the demand curve be drawn?
4. Analysis
Given a scenario, what factors will contribute to a change in demand or price? What are the possible consequences when there is a change in any of the four determinants of demand? Explain why.
5. Synthesis
Given a product, business, industry, or nation, what would a demand schedule look like and what would the demand curve look like? Predict the possible factors for a change or shift in demand.
6. Evaluation
Do you think that the law of demand is demonstrated in the real world economy? If yes, how well does it work? Use concepts and examples to determine how successfully the law of demand works or does not work in the real world.
