Mitch Kline enters his second year as Head Coach of the Garnet. He received his B.S. degree from Penn State University in health, physical education and recreation and his M.ED from Temple University in therapeutic recreation.
A full-time health and physical education instructor in the Philadelphia School District, Mitch has had an enormous amount of success coaching varsity field hockey, women's basketball, and softball on the high school level. Coach Kline has over 20 years of fastpitch softball playing and coaching experience. He was a three-time member of a United States Fastpitch Softball Team that won gold medals in Israel in 1985 and 1989 (co-captain) and a silver medal in 1993. Mitch brings to Swarthmore College firsthand knowledge, experience, enthusiasm and a love for the game of fastpitch softball.
Through the dedication, determination, and commitment from the players and Coach Kline, the softball program made great strides during the 2000 season. The three Centennial Conference wins over Washington , Gettysburg and Haverford made a statement to the league that Swarthmore softball is a team on the rise. With a new attitude and a rekindled desire, the softball program shows great promise for the upcoming season.
