Head Coach Lee Wimberly
Head Coach Lee Wimberly returns for his 14th year at Swarthmore after a distinguished career at the high school and college levels. From 1978 to 1984 he served as head coach at Bellarmine College Preparatory (San Jose, CA), where his teams were consistently ranked among the best in northern California. He then served two years as an assistant at Pomona-Pitzer under Gregg Popovich, Head Coach and General Manager of the NBA San Antonio Spurs. In 1997-98 Wimberly took a one-year leave-of-absence from Swarthmore to serve as the Head Scout for the Spurs. In 1991 Wimberly was voted by his peers as the MAC Southeast Coach of the Year and was honored at the Final Four in Indianapolis as the National Association of Basketball Coaches Kodak District Coach of the Year. His 1990-91 team posted 17 wins, the most in school history. His 1996-97 team finished with 16 wins, played for the conference championship, and was invited to the post-season ECAC Tournament for the first time ever. Wimberly's 107 career victories at Swarthmore rank him as the second winningest coach in school history.
