2001 OUTLOOK

The 2001 Swarthmore College Field Hockey season looks to be an exciting one. With a solid core of returners and an exciting group of first years, the team looks to improve on a sucessful 2000 campaign. Lost to graduation is the 2000 Centennial Conference "Player of the Year" Kristen English, All- Conference player, Katie Vivalo, as well as straters, Erika Williams, Krista Hollis and Maureen Vernon. It won't be easy to replace these individuals who lead the 2000 squad to an overall record of 14-7 and a 7-2 second place finish in the Centennial Conference, but they are up for the challenge.

Leading the way this season will be seniors, Kim Cariello (Western Reserve Academy/ Hudson, OH), Amy DiBenedetto (Penncrest HS/ Media, PA), Alison Gaffney (Cape Henlopen/ Lewes, DE), Carly Hammond (Columbus Academy/ Blacklich, OH), and Katie Tarr (Garnet Valley HS/ Glen Mills, PA). Also looking to make an impact this season will be returners Katie Cloonan (Fairport HS/ Fairport, NY), Heather Doyle (River Hill HS/ Glenelg, MD), Kasia-Koziol-Dube (Farmington HS/ Unionville, CT), Ingrid Kaszas (Southern Regional HS/ Brant Beach, NJ), Lindsay Vansciver (Stephen Decatur HS/ Berlin, MD), and Meg Woodworth (Middlesex HS/ Lexington, MA). In the goal, Kate Nelson-Lee (The Wheeler School/ Jamestown, RI) and Jenn Hart (The Wellington School/ Columbes, OH) will battle for the starting position.
