Karen
Borbee leads the Garnet with a great
deal of coaching experience. An Associate Professor of Physical
Education, Coach Borbee joined The Garnet in 1990 after serving as
the head lacrosse and field hockey coach at Strath Haven High School
in Wallingford, PA for six years. After short stints in soccer, and
basketball, Borbee now runs the show for both the Women's Lacrosse
and Field Hockey Programs. Both teams have had tremendous success
under her tenure. The Women's Lacrosse Team has an overall record of
91-56, with ECAC post-season invitations in 1997, 1998, and 2000. The
Field Hockey Team is 70-28, with three Centennial Conference
Championships, an NCAA post-season invitation in 1996, the 1997 ECAC
Mid-Atlantic Championship, and a 1998 and 2000 ECAC post season
invitation.
In 1984, Borbee graduated from the University of Delaware with honors, where she is a Wall of Fame receipient as well as a Hall of Fame athlete. She was a member of the 1981, 1982, and 1983 National Champion Lacrosse Teams. Borbee was also a 10 year member of the United States Women's Lacrosse Team as well as a member of the World Championship United States World Cup Team in 1989. She will be inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in October, 2001. After working as a Mathematics teacher and field hockey and lacrosse coach, she joined the faculty of Swarthmore College.
