This seminar is a continuation of
Introduction to Modern Algebra (MATH 067). Topics covered this
semester will include groups as symmetries, the Sylow theorems, a
theoretical development of linear algebra, basic representation
theory, the structure theorem for modules over principal ideal
domains, field theory, and Galois theory (including the
insolvability of the quintic). Depending on interest and time
available additional topics may also be covered.
