Materials and Methods:
Skin Organ Culture: Commercially available pregnant, outbred mice were obtained and maintained until 13.5 dpc. At 13.5 dpc the mother's were sacrificed as previously described (Cebra-Thomas protocol) using appropriate, humane techniques, and the embryos were dissected from the female and staged.

All dissections of vibrissa pads were done in Hank's Saline Solution. Cultures were completed by placing the vibrissa pads with the mesenchyme side down on sterile Transwell Clear filters above 1.7ml Dulbeccos' Modified Eagle's Medium (DMEM) containing 10% fetal calf serum (FCS), penicillin (50Units/ml) and streptomycin (50mg/ml)(Chiang, 4). Cultures were incubated at 37oC with 5% CO2.
