Human development: cloning, stem cells and tissue engineering

The seminar will focus on the therapeutic applications of developmental biology. We will focus on early development and cloning, organogenesis and tissue engineering, and the isolation, differentiation and potential uses of adult and embryonic stem cells. The laboratory will consist of an introduction to techniques used to study and manipulate gene expression in chicks and mammals, and then of group projects involving some aspect of cell differentiation or organogenesis.
