Dupont--Temporary North Entrance

Dupont--Lecture Hall

Dupont--Math Wing
¬· The work in this area is complete.

Dupont Physics Offices and Temporary Restrooms
¬·  The temporary restrooms are substantially complete and in service. Temporary toilet partitions have been installed and will be replaced when the permanent partitions arrive. Delivery has been pushed into October.

Rugby Field
¬·  The rugby field parking lot is paved and open for use by faculty and students. Please note the striped pedestrian pathways in the lot. There is a connector between the new rugby field lot and the existing Dupont lot that allows vehicular traffic to continue behind Dupont.  The existing road alongside the Research Annex has been demolished and the installation of underground utilities is in progress.
¬· Stockpiling of topsoil and fill is complete. Modifications to the swale will occur in the next two weeks.

North Quad
¬·  Installation of the construction fence on the North Quad is complete.Ãä Note the pathways marked with signs and arrows painted on the ground that lead from Beardsley around to the north entrance to Dupont.

Cornell Library
¬· The new rear entrance to the library is open.  The platform to the stairs leading from the rear of Cornell to the west end of Dupont is open.  The temporary platforms at both Dupont and Cornell will be replaced in September with more permanent structures.  The switch will be timed to occur during hours of minimal use.
¬· The reconstruction of the canopy on the front of the building has started is expected to be complete by 9/25.
¬· Removal of the remaining roof shingles will start this week.  New shingles will be installed to serve until the rest of the roof is removed later in the project.
¬·
A new emergency exit was installed in the north end of the lower level of Cornell to replace the exit doors that were taken out of service on the first floor.

UTILITY SHUTDOWNS:
¬· There will be an interruption to the water service on most of the north campus Saturday 9/29 beginning at 10:00 p.m. Service is expected to be restored by 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning.  Affected buildings include: Beardsley, Courtney Smith House, Dupont, Hicks, Pearson, Papazian, Swarthmore Friends Meetinghouse, and all of the houses on Whittier Place.
¬· There will be an electrical service shutdown in Dupont on Saturday 9/29 beginning at 2:00 p.m. Service is expected to be restored by midnight that day.

PEDESTRIAN / VEHICULAR ACCESS:

¬·  There will be a temporary shutdown of the service drive to Beardsley so that the electric service can be completed in the new manhole. The shutdown date is not yet scheduled, but will occur in approximately 3 weeks. Please contact Facilities to coordinate any critical deliveries to Beardsley in the next 3-4 weeks.
¬·  There will be disruptions to traffic flow on the service road north of Dupont during the next two weeks while utilities are placed underground. A minimum of one lane will be open at all times. Please contact Facilities to coordinate any critical deliveries or services to ensure the road will be accessible.
¬· Gates have been installed across Whittier Place just past the Rugby field parking lot. The gates will be open during the day to allow construction traffic to access the site. The gates will be closed at night to prevent any vehicles from inadvertently entering the site.
¬· Parking along Whittier Place is prohibited during the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Faculty and staff were advised that parking is at their own risk. The purple permit parking signs on Whittier Place have been removed and No Parking signs are being installed.
¬· The stair tower exit door at the northwest corner of the Dupont Research Annex has been limited to emergency exit only, due to construction activities outside. Signs have been posted at all doors in the stair tower.
¬· The stair tower exit on the west side of Dupont is open.
¬· Parking at the Hicks lot has been restored. The construction fencing has been reduced to allow the balance of the work to continue.
¬·
The Borough has approved eliminating parking at two spaces on Elm Avenue near the intersection with Whittier Place, to facilitate construction traffic. The existing street parking signs have been relocated.

NOISE, VIBRATION, DUST:

¬· A tire cleaning area (gravel) was installed as part of the paving of the rugby field parking lot.  This should reduce dirt tracking onto Whittier Place.
¬· Excavation at the service drive over the next two weeks will create some dust in the immediate area.

CONSTRUCTION DELIVERIES / HEAVY EQUIPMENT ON SITE:

¬· Earth-moving equipment (backhoe, dump truck, etc.) is still on site.
