Mathematics & Statistics Demos

Here are some Mathematics Demos, grouped by courses. Hopefully more will appear in the future. The date in parentheses is the last modification date for the notebook. Also see Tutorials and Notes for more general Mathematica notebooks. One very important NOTE: these demos were produced for Mathematica versions 4 and 5 and likely will not run properly in Mathematica version 6 without some editing.

If you download any of the following, and have trouble opening them on a computer equipped with Mathematica 3 or above because the icon for the file is wrong or blank, here are some instructions on how to possibly fix the problem.

Mac users may find that clicking on a file link opens it in your browser as a text file starting with "Mathematica-Compatible Notebook." If this happens, try again, but hold down the option key as you click the link.

The remaining notebooks in this section require the third-party add-on package VisualDSolve. It is not part of the standard Mathematica media set. It is available (together with an accompanying book) from Telos at http://www.telospub.com/catalog/MATHEMATICA/VisualDSolve.html . If it is not on the computer running the notebook, you will be unable to generate the plots.
