HOUSING

1. IF YOU'RE ARRIVING BY TRAIN OR PLANE:
College guest housing is full because of an Alumni Council meeting that weekend. Other housing in Swarthmore is very scarce but two small B&Bs have just opened:

Joan Cline
124 Park Ave.
610 544 1785

Janice Hampton
314 Harvard Ave.
610 544 6779

Other than that, those without cars would do well to stay at a hotel in Philadelphia near a train station--the airport train goes to the same three stations mentioned below and you can also catch a train to Swarthmore at them. The train arrives at 30th Street Station, not near any hotels but a stop or two from the following:

In Center City (Suburban Station)
The Westin,
99 South 17th Street at Liberty Place
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19103
Phone 215-563-1600

In Chinatown (Market St. East Station)
Clarion Suites Philadelphia
1010 Race Street
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19107
866-608-9330

Right by University of Pennsylvania Hospital (University Station)
Penn Tower Hotel
Civic Center Boulevard at 34th Street,
Philadelphia, PA 19104-4385
215-387-8333 or 800-356-PENN

2. IF YOU'RE DRIVING

There's a nice B&B near Media
The Alpenho, Roland Müler
610-566-1995 or 610-891-8222

There are various modest motels around (several on I95 by the airport).
Some college folks have used
Days Inn
1300 Providence Avenue
Chester, Pennsylvania United States 19013
866-667-9330

If you come on I95 it's right by the Chester downtown exit, on the corner of Rt. 32o and Rt. 252.
