Brief Bio

Nattapol was born and grew up in Thailand. After he graduated from high school in Bangkok, he came to the United States to pursue the degree in Mathematics. Having never spoken English before, he spent a year to learn English at Worcester Academy, MA. He also spent that year doing college research and ended up going to Swarthmore College.

At Swarthmore, he is doing Mathematics major with Linguistics minor. After graduation, he is planning to go to graduate school. Then, he will go back to his home country and become a math teacher in college.

Question & Answer

What was your favorite math experience?

My favorite math topic is Analysis because I have taken many classes in this topic compare to the other topics. Also, I feel like Analysis is the topic that seems to make sense to me the most. Besides that, I like Number Theory because it was fun. But I did not do well in this topic.

What do you hope to be doing next year this time?

I want to go to graduate school. So, hopefully around this time of the year, I’ll be in some graduate school.

What advice would you give freshman and sophomores considering majoring in mathematics and statistics?

Take class that you want to take. Do not take it (or not to take it) because you heard that the professor who will be teaching that class is a good (or bad) teacher. It should not really matter as long as you are interested in that class.
