Question & Answer

What was your favorite math experience?
I have enjoyed my course in Mathematical Statistics the most. So much of mathematics is geared towards breaking problems down to their elemental essence, which is great, but can cloud the real pragmatism of math. I think Stat 53 does an excellent job of keeping examples practical while remaining true to the theoretical development of the subject.
What do you hope to be doing next year this time?
I plan to go to be going to graduate school at either USC or BC for accounting masters. Otherwise, I'll be looking for a job as an actuary and working towards passing those set of exams.
What advice would you give freshman and sophomores considering majoring in mathematics and statistics?
I think math is a great major at Swarthmore because the department seems to really care about the students. The professors are quite approachable for the most part and strive to create a sense of community in and outside of class.
