Student Comments:

I really enjoyed this course. It was difficult to get used to the Rule of 3 at the beginning. Now it is pretty much second nature. I participated in math groupls in high school, so this was not new for me. However, it was difficult sometimes when other group member were not prepared. Overall, this was a great experience for me.

Chris was quite energetic and I enjoyed his antics. Group homework sucked and Chris graded very hard. I learned a lot in this class. We liked Chris.

His comments on homework (i.e."yeah, but...") are rather amusing. Not only does he speak this way, but he also write like it. Overall, he was a very energetic and interesting person.

Chris needs to be a bit neater when he writes comments on papers that he grades.

Chris was the best math teacher that I every had. He is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I felt lucky to have him for an instructor.

Chris should shave every day. He makes class fun, yet enlightening at the amse time. His enthuisiasm is overwhelming.

Chris was very encouraging and made taking calculus much more interesting. I learned more in this semester about practical use of math tahn in all four years of my high school math classes.

<smilie face>

I thought Chris was a really good instructor. I only wish he was teaching 116. And I think he should have every day.

[Note: There were a couple of evaluations which really only addressed the text or the overall UM calculus class structure. Since this is supposed to be about my teaching, and it's not that fun to type this all in, I decided to skip those. Is this breaking my rule? Oh, well.]

The instuctor was always available for outside help and was very responsive.

I was in a different class before and I don't think I would have made it if I stayed in that class. One does not realize how good a "competant" teacher [sic] until they have one that is not. Chirs has been an excellent teacher . I recommend ANYONE him [sic] as a teacher for Calc 115.

It often seemed that Chris thought students were stupid by his looks and actions.

[Chris comments: Wow, I really regret whatever I did to make this student feel this way. Since getting this evaluation, I've tried to make it explicitly clear that I never have this kind of contempt for my students.]

Chris is a great teacher.

Thank you for an excellent semester, I really did learn a lot.

I feel Chris is an excellent teacher, but sometimes he should be more assertive in class. I enjoyed his class.
