What is intelligent design creationism?

'Intelligent design creationism' is the idea that because scientists don't yet fully understand everything about life, then aliens or Gods must have designed life. Although the teaching of intelligent design necessarily results in students becoming measurably dumber, it simultaneously infuses these students with a sense of pride in being ignorant and uncurious. Like all ideas that glamorize stupidity, intelligent design has been immensely popular among the cognitively challenged ever since it was introduced by William Paley in 1802.
