Research in my laboratory focuses on the separation of pesticide enantiomers using ion mobility spectrometry, the same technology that is used for explosives detection in airports. Determining the chiral composition of pesticides gives information about both pesticide sources and paths for biodegradation. Students will gain experience with analytical method development, instrumentation, and environmental sampling. The long term goal of this research is the development of portable systems for on-site pesticide analysis.

My teaching responsibilities include Analytical Methods and Instrumentation (Chemistry 43) and an advanced seminar on Environmental Chemistry (Chemistry 103).
