ASME

Swarthmore's ASME chapter (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) will be meeting every Wednesday night at 8:30 pm in the Hicks Family Room - if you're interested, please come by! Meetings generally last an hour or less.

ASME is open to engineers and non-engineers alike - anybody interested in working with their hands, building stuff and getting dirty is welcome to come. Hope to see you there!

Main goals:
-teach members useful skills like welding, machining, etc.
-have members apply and practice the above skills through small projects such as fabricating useful hand tools and personal projects
-work as a group on larger projects such as setting up the student shop

IEEE

IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, exists to further our understanding of electrical engineering, and to build robots (or other cool projects).

We have meetings at 8:00pm on Tuesdays, in the Hicks 2nd lounge. Our website is at http://www.sccs.swarthmore.edu/org/ieee/. You can contact Alex Burka '12 (aburka1@swarthmore.edu) with questions.

The video of the project I described can be found here: http://www.geek.com/articles/games/wipeout-recreated-with-an-rc-car-and-lots-of-cardboard-2010084/
