See Hours of Operation for announcements about when the Peace Collection will be closed. During inclement weather (for instance, a heavy snow or ice storm), call 610-328-8228 to find out whether the College -- including the Peace Collection -- will open late or be closed altogether for that day.
Researchers should contact the Curator before arrival, but special permission to visit is not necessary. There is no admission charge, although contributions are welcome. Some manuscript collections are restricted or stored off-site and two week's advance notice is necessary before these items can be made available to researchers. Swarthmore College is located on Route 320 about two miles south of Route 1 and three miles north of Chester, Pennsylvania. To reach Swarthmore by car take I-95 to exit 7, I-476 North to exit 3 (the Swarthmore-Media exit) and follow signs to Swarthmore, and then Route 320 south. Enter the parking lot and park in the visitor section of the parking lot. If you plan to leave your car in the parking lot for more than 3 hours in any one day, please visit the Public Safety office, in the Benjamin West House, located in this parking lot, and inform them of the reason for your visit and duration of stay. The College may also be reached by SEPTA trains from Philadelphia (approximately 30 minutes) and by bus from 69th Street station in Philadelphia. The SCPC is on the lower level in McCabe Library.
