- Explanation
of Manuscript Collection Designations, etc.
This is a complete
list of all of the Document Groups, as well as the Collected
Document Groups, in the SCPC. Some of these collections have
on-line finding aids for which links are provided. Most of the
rest of the Document Groups have finding aids available at the
SCPC.
Document Groups (DGs) are the major manuscript collections in the
SCPC's repository. Most were officially deposited by the group or
person for which the DG is named.
CDGs are Collected Document Groups. The SCPC has only some
material from these organizations and individuals, collected by
various entities through the years. In a small number of cases,
the SCPC is the official repository for a CDG, but it was not
given DG status because of the limited amount of material, or
because it does not reflect the donor's full activities.
CDG-As refer to groups or persons located in the United States,
with CDG-Bs located in other countries. A new category, called
CDG-C, was established in June 2001 to include groups that seem to
have no set office location, but change their address with every
new leader, or because of other circumstances do not have a clear
designation as a CDG-A or CDG-B.
On the Manuscript Collections list, DG numbers or CDG-B countries
are noted after the name of the group or person for which the SCPC
has a collection. If a name does not have such a designation after
it, it means that it is a U.S. entity (CDG-A).
