World Premieres in the 2009-10 season:

 

Celebration for handbell choir (commissioned by Summit Presbyterian Church, Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, in commemoration of its 125th anniversary): Sunday, November 15th 2009, 3 PM at Summit Presbyterian Church, Greene and Westview Streets, Mt. Airy, Philadelphia.

Midsummer Idyl for oboe d'amore and piano (commissioned by Orchestra 2001 in honor of James Freeman's 70th birthday): Sunday, December 13th, 3 PM in Lang Concert Hall, Swarthmore College.

Suara Suadin for ten instruments (commissoned by North/South Consonance in honor of its 30th anniversary): Sunday February 7th 2010, 3 PM at Christ and St. Stephen's Church, 120 West 69th Street (between Broadway and Columbus), New York City.

Whitman is also one of twenty-five composers to asked to participate in the 25th anniversary celebration of Network for New Music. Each composer will contribute a new variation on the waltz by Anton Diabelli that served as the basis for Beethoven's Diabelli Variations. This new collaborative composition will be performed by Network for New Music on Sunday May 2, 2010 at 7:30 pm, Settlement Music School, 416 Queen Street, Philadelphia.
