Dear members and friends of Slow Food Philadelphia,

Come celebrate the Year of the Dog with your friends and fellow snails at a Slow Food Cantonese Banquet held at the Imperial Inn Restaurant in Philadelphia, 142-46 North 10th Street in Chinatown. The Chefs of the Imperial Inn specialize in the delicate and complex cuisine of Canton and will prepare a nine-course banquet for us. The dinner will be on Wednesday, February 22nd, at 7:00 p.m. Cost of the banquet is $30.00 for Slow Food members, $35.00 for non-members. Please confirm your attendance by e-mail or phone (610 543-6649) and send a check with the correct amount, made out to Slow Food Philadelphia, to:

Hansjakob Werlen,
515 Elm Avenue,
Swarthmore, PA 19081.

Responses and checks need to be received by Saturday, February 18.

On Sunday afternoon, February 26, 1 – 4 pm, our friends from Triumph Brewery in New Hope invite everyone to a Winter Slow Food & Beer Tasting (see poster below). This will be a great opportunity to meet all of our area’s great brewers as well as many producers of meats, cheeses, seafood, honey, etc. Meet the producers and taste their local, sustainable products paired with your favorite beer styles. You will also be able to buy some of the products directly from the producers.

You can purchase tickets in advance for $30.00 (Slow Food members) and $35.00 (non-members). At the door on the day of the event, tickets will be $40.00 (for members) and $45.00 (for non-members).

Triumph Brewing Company is located at 400 Union Square (Bridge Street, next to Train Station) in New Hope, PA. The telephone number is 215-862-8300. You can order tickets by phone or with Pay Pal at www.triumphbrewing.com A portion of the proceeds will support Slow Food initiatives.

The coming months will bring many Slow Food Philadelphia events – among them Pasta at Penne, Chocolate at DiBruno Brothers, and events with cookbook authors and other food professionals. Details in the next newsletter.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Imperial Inn and at Triumph Brewery.
Hansjakob
