For Swarthmore Faculty and Staff
How to Register for a course

Full-time or part-time benefits-eligible faculty and staff employees or their spouses or domestic partners may enroll, without charge, for one course each semester for non-degree credit or audit, depending upon the permission of the the instructor of the course, and, for staff, also the permission of the staff member's supervisor. All retired employees of Swarthmore College are also eligible for this benefit. If an individual enrolls in two or more courses for credit in a semester, normal tuition will be charged. In cases where a College employee wants to attend an over-subscribed class, preference is normally given to degree candidates of the College. There is never a charge for audit.

To register to take a class at Swarthmore, bring a copy of the Swarthmore College Staff Enrollment Form to the professor to obtain permission, then bring the form to the Registrar's Office to record the registration. We usually only record the registration for credit-earning courses; audits generally don't need to be recorded.

PE courses are somewhat different. Please first contact Marian Fahy of the PE department to see if space is available, then talk to the instructor.

The employee benefit does not extend to the other schools with which we exchange students. The tri-college and U Penn exchanges are only for our degree candidates.

For more information about staff education benefits, please the Human Resources website - Employee Handbook Chapter 2:
