COMMUNICATIONS WITH SWARTHMORE WHILE ABROAD

Just about every place that you may do foreign study, you will find such modern conveniences as telephones and mailboxes. Most of you, while abroad, can also have access to e-mail and fax. If you need or want to be in touch with us while you are abroad, use these facilities to do so. If it is an important and urgent matter - e.g., course change - use e-mail, fax, or phone, which will reach us right away. But, practical matters aside, we will be glad to have word from you any time about what you are up to and how you are finding things over there.

Included in your pre-departure packet is a form entitled, "How Can We Contact You Abroad?" Although the need to do so probably won't arise, it may; and, if it does, it is likely to be important, e.g., an administrative matter pertaining to your financial aid, or changes in the scheduling of courses or seminars you wish or need to take. Please complete and return this form to the Office for Foreign Study, so that we can facilitate communication with you if the need arises. You may also email your information to Rosa Bernard when you have settled in.

IF WHILE ABROAD YOU NEED TO TELEPHONE US, THE OFFICE FOR FOREIGN STUDY WILL BE GLAD TO PAY FOR THE CALL. IF YOU CAN, CALL COLLECT. IF YOU CANNOT CALL COLLECT, FIND OUT HOW MUCH THE CALL COST YOU, LET US KNOW, AND WE WILL REIMBURSE YOU FOR THIS AMOUNT.
