In October of 2002, Don Bankston, Brigid Brett-Esborn, Liz Dozier, Jaime Layton, and Jessica Lee travelled to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to give a presentation to the Student Coalition for Action in Literacy Education (S.C.A.L.E.). The group presented the program models of Learning for Life and Summer of Learning to students, administrators, and faculty of colleges and universities from accross the country and was very well received. They were the only group at S.C.A.L.E.'s conference to have community based partners present. The conference was extremely informative, and the Learning for Life group enjoyed exchanging ideas with other groups and sampling some fine, Southern food like chitterlings.
