| The trip was such a great learning experience for me and I am sure for everyone that went. We had a great tour guide that directed the bus driver around the farms and stores. His name is Roger. The Amish people live a very simple life. No telephone, no electricity, their style of dress is very planin mostly blacl om color, we saw a lot of cows, horses, chickens and farm equipment. We learned about the schools. The Amish children attend a one room school that only go up to the eighth grade because after children reach the age of 14 they are required to help with the farm work. Here is an amazing fact the Amish farmers collect four million eggs per day. We were allowed to stop at several stores to shop. The scenery was so beautiful We were given cameras to take pictures. We loved taking pictures of all the different things that some of us were not familiar with like seeing a horse drawn buggy. We saw hand made quilts wich were so beautiful.
