Annual Tasks Required to Maintain Compliance with Federal Guidelines on Human Subjects Research at Swarthmore College
Each year the following tasks must be completed to maintain compliance with Federal guidelines.
1) The personnel listed on the Human Research Personnel web page as members of Swarthmore College's IRB, its The Human Protections Administrator and its Signatory Official must be updated as necessary.
2) The Human Protections Administrator must file a Federalwide Assurance of Protection for Human Subjects unless the IRB chairperson, The Human Protections Administrator, and the Signatory Official are all unchanged..
3) The Human Protections Administrator must submit an IRB registration unless the IRB is unchanged.
4) All ongoing research must have its procedures reviewed. An application for continuation of the research should be filed with the chair of the IRB. The Human Protections Administrator will send a reminder to all researchers who have ongoing research.
5) Every three years the IRB procedures should be updated to maintain active registration of the IRB.
6) The paperwork for approval of Human Subjects Research may be destroyed after 3 years.
