Sustainable peace in Jammu and Kashmir will remain a chimera as long as Pakistan continues to suffer from a near absence of transparency in its government. Once the military, the only viable institution in Pakistan, ceases to be the determining force in the Kashmir conflict a solution will come about. That won't happen till the other totalitarian regime (China) in the midst ceases to support the Pakistani army diplomatically and militarily. In the interim, the best that can be done is to promote inter-party dialogues and track II initiatives of the kind that are already underway.

I would echo Vijay's comments whole-heartedly. To add yet another Greek metaphor, "sustainable" peace in J & K is a Sisyphean endeavor as long as Pakistan is under the grip of the mullah-military complex, which unholy nexus shows no signs of weakening or loosing its chokehold. Depressing but true.

Peace is only in the hands of the people of Inida, Pakistan and Kashmiri. If the people of the all sides think that Kashmir should be in peace and kashmiri will be in peace then they have to think that this problem should solve on all sides. We should try our best to solve this problem by all means. It should be politicaly, religiously or on some others manners. We wants to live with peace peace is our slogan.

Why exactly the conflict in J&K cant end? Why after 5-0 years it is still impossible to finish it? What are the possible sollutions?
