Hello,
It is hard for me to express my enormous appreciation for such a proactive and well-thought-out peace effort. Being myslef the leader of an activist group, I can really appreciate the devotion it took you guys to actually go out and do something, not passively criticize and try to get attention. I think this organization should serve as a model of positive, people-centered activism to others.
Thank you for doing this.

While possibly well intentioned the conference agenda ought to have been broadened to include the ethnic cleansing that resulted in the ejection of Dogras and Pundits from Kashmir. Also not apparent is the fact that the biggest victims of the savagery that(termed in an anodyne fashion as a conflict) is perpetrated by terrorists operating out of Pakistani side of the line of control are Kashmir's Muslims. For the conference to be more meaningful it would have also been helpful to include a few Kashmiri businesspeople (across religions) and not just academics and commentators. The former have seen trade in papier mache products, hotels and a variety of other indigenous industries go to dust.

While planning the conference, we have tried to ensure that we can bring together as eclectic a group of speakers as possible, taking into account the diversity of Jammu and Kashmir. Our speakers include Kashmiri Muslims, a Kashmiri Pandit, a Balti, a Ladakhi and many experts who have spent years working with different communities in Jammu and Kashmir. However, rather than solely focusing on getting people from every single community, which would have been an incredibly difficult task, we have tried to focus on diversity of opinions as many communities might have very similar issues.
Due to time and monetary constraints, we have not been able to bring businesspeople from Jammu and Kashmir to the conference. However, many of our speakers have interviewed/worked with businesspeople in Jammu and Kashmir. We will do our best to ensure that the economic implications of the conflict are addressed during our panel discussions. Additionally, we are inviting Kashmiri businesspeople residing in the U.S. to attend and participate at the conference.
Thank you for your critique. We look forward to getting more suggestions and comments from you!
